I just had to show off the celery we grew this year it is awesome!

A little background:  We have very rocky, clay ground in a very tiny townhouse backyard.   We have wanted to grow a garden for ages and finally decided in late June to give it a shot and plant one.   Knowing it was late in the season we never thought much would grow besides maybe some swiss chard and radishes.  Well you can image our surprise when the garden flourished!  We had awesome yields from a very small garden and the stuff grew well beyond what was expected.  So we have now decided to take over our entire backyard next year and plant it on time.  Going to see how much we can grow in a small space.  Of course it will be all grown organically, absolutely no pesticides, herbicides or any other "cides" lol.  Just sun, water and a lot of hard work.

So anyway everyone has always told us how hard celery is to grow.  How you need exactly the right growing conditions, tons of water etc.   Well take a look at this!

Not just to put it in perspective I am going to show you my grandson holding it - he is four feet tall and the celery is half his size!

We are just blown away at the success of our little garden.  Never in our wildest dreams did we expect to get the yields we did and planting it so late in the season - it's just crazy.  It is so nice to finally be able to have home grown again though.  It's been years since we've been able to grow our own stuff.

Hubby and I will be spending some time planning our garden for next year and planning what we can put away.   It will fit in wonderfully with our lifestyle changes we are making.  Can't wait to share it all with you.
